Israeli artists Batya Gil (experimental glass artist) & Koby Sibony (wire designer/maker) will be here from the Western Galilee, our Parternship2Gether region.

Designer & Maker Koby Sibony

Born in Haifa, Koby graduated in 2011 with a degree in Industrial Design from the Bezalel Art Academy in Jerusalem. His art and design studio is on Kibbutz Lohamei HaGeta’ot (The Ghetto Fighters Kibbutz) a community in the Western Galilee established by surviving fighters from the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Glass Artist Batya Gil

Batya immigrated to Israel as a child from Canada and has been an artist for over 20 years. After graduating from Bezalel Art Academy in 1991, she and her husband moved to Clil, an ecological village in the Western Galilee. There they built their home and studio called ‘Jara,’ and is where they create, teach and raised their children.  For more: Batya on Facebook

COMMUNITY ART PROJECT

Build or observe—either way you need to be a part of this amazing public art project! All are welcome at this free event. Meet at Sinaca Studios School of Glass and Gallery (1013 W Magnolia Ave) for a special community group project. We’ll create a large-scale sculpture in collaboration with Sinaca Studios, designed by local artist Tatara Siegel (tataraannesiegel.com) and Israeli artists Batya Gil & Koby Sibony.

Gather, listen, learn, & discuss: Between Art & Design—a Dialogue Between Two Artists and the Audience at Rebecca Low Sculptural Metal Gallery & Studios. Batya & Koby will present their work and have a discussion with the audience about being an Israeli artist in the periphery and creating in the space between art and design. Refreshments will be served.

Glass Fusing for Self-Expression with artist Batya Gil

Ages 10 to Adult / Materials Provided  

Learn to use glass for creative fun and playfulness. Experiment with window glass, colors, powders, copper wire and pieces of glass to create your own artwork to be fused in a glass kiln (Pieces will be fired after workshop for pick up).

Freestyle Metal Wire Design with designer/maker Koby Sibony

Ages 10 to Adult / Materials provided

Learn the basics of manual metal bending and create freestyle 2D and 3D sculptures; this is your opportunity to express your creative side and learn special techniques from Koby. Sign up today, there are limited spots available.
